Remember we "BUNG TOGETHER THINGS THAT ARE THE SAME"

Here are some final examples:

a)    x + x²            can't do anything - x and x² are different

b)    x(x + y)          just multiply:
       x² + xy           that's it!

c)    x(x + y) + x²   multiply out then tidy up:
       x² + xy + x²
       2x² + xy        finished!
